Rocabella, Santorini, Greece | May 2024
Words can hardly capture the epic experience of photographing this stunning Santorini wedding soirée. In my ten years as a wedding photographer, I have never seen a sunset as breathtaking and magical as the one that graced Kath & Lee’s special day. From the pre-ceremony drinks by the pool and panoramic sea views during the ceremony to the joyous plate smashing and dancing into the night, this celebration was truly unforgettable. Shooting at the breathtaking Rocabella in Santorini, Greece, as an Australian wedding photographer was an incredible adventure.
If you’re in search of an English-speaking wedding photographer with a luxury approach, artistic flair, and editorial style, you’re in the right place. Q&A With Kath & Lee
What’s your love story?
English girl on holiday in Newcastle meets Aussie boy and the rest is history.
What’s your advice for anyone planning a destination wedding in Greece?
If you’re thinking about a wedding in Greece don’t hesitate! The islands, the food, the views, the sunsets – perfection. Our advice would be to choose the time of year wisely. Our afternoon wedding in May provided the perfect climate.
Why did you choose the location/wedding venue to get married?
Having family on opposite sides of the world, we looked at so many venues in England and Australia. Eventually, we decided a destination wedding somewhere in the middle would work best for us and would get as many of our loved ones there as possible. A random Instagram post brought us to Rocabella Santorini and as soon as we saw that venue we fell in love. They helped us organise all the details and it was absolutely stunning.
What was your favourite part/memory of the day?
There were so many highlights it’s almost impossible to choose a favourite. But the first moment of walking down the aisle, the incredible sunset and the Greek-style smashing plates at the after-party were our top 3.
What aesthetic were you going for?
We wanted our wedding to have a classic and timeless aesthetic with an edge. We wanted the venue and incredible views to do the talking rather than fussy decoration.
Who were your top 3 favourite vendors and why?
1. Our photographer Lauren was our absolute favourite. Her photos and vibes absolutely exceeded all expectations and she captured our day so beautifully. 2. Of course the venue and staff at Rocabella who assisted with planning and organising our day were incredible and their work was outstanding. 3. The hair and makeup artist Julia Popova was incredible. She created the most beautiful looks for the bridal party on the day, exactly what we dreamed of.
